Amanda and Jedidiah Stone have always shared a vision of living a life more deeply connected to the land. They didn't grow up farming or inherit generations of agricultural knowledge. What they did have was a passion for healthy living, a small urban garden, and years spent studying herbalism and natural healing while navigating Amanda's journey with Lyme disease. That season of life didn't just change their health—it transformed their perspective and intensified their desire to create a life rooted in wellness, stewardship, and faith.
As parents who chose to homeschool their children, they discovered that education is not something that ends with graduation—it is a lifelong pursuit. Some of their greatest lessons have come from mentors, farmers, artisans, and neighbors willing to share their wisdom. That spirit of continual learning remains at the heart of their family's journey. Every season brings new opportunities to better understand the land, regenerate its health, and cultivate a place that will nourish not only their family but generations to come.
Why "La Fea"?
The name La Fea Farm is one of the most personal parts of our story.
In Amanda's Latin family, nicknames were often terms of affection, even if they didn't sound kind to outsiders. Her grandfather lovingly called her "Fea," which translates to ugly in Spanish. To anyone else, it may have sounded harsh, but to Amanda it meant she was deeply loved. He would often smile and tell her, "You are the peach of my eye." She never doubted his love for her. In return, she affectionately called him Gordito, meaning little chubby one.
Years later, when Amanda and Jedidiah first stepped onto this property, they saw what many others would have overlooked. The land was covered in years of accumulated junk, overgrowth, and neglect. It took nearly a full year, countless hours of work, and two large dumpsters just to begin uncovering its beauty. Even today, the work of restoring and stewarding the property continues.
While many people might have seen an "ugly" piece of land, Amanda saw something entirely different. She saw beauty waiting to be revealed. Just as her grandfather had lovingly looked beyond a nickname and saw someone precious, she looked beyond the overgrown brush and forgotten debris and saw a farm full of promise.
Naming the property La Fea Farm became a tribute to her grandfather's love and a reminder that beauty is often hidden beneath the surface. Sometimes the greatest treasures simply need someone willing to see their potential.
Today, one of Amanda's most treasured keepsakes is the last handwritten note her grandfather ever gave her. His signature, written in his own hand, has become part of La Fea Farm's story and serves as a quiet reminder of the love that inspired its name. You will find his handwritten signature woven into our brand—a lasting tribute to the man who taught Amanda that true beauty is not defined by appearances, but by the love with which we see one another.

Jedidiah is a licensed massage therapist with a unique calling. In addition to helping people find relief and healing through therapeutic massage, he is also a certified canine massage therapist. His practice has grown to serve both people and their beloved dogs, helping strengthen the bond between owner and pet while supporting the health and well-being of each.
Amanda is the CEO of Grounding Roots, the organic wellness brand she and Jedidiah co-founded alongside their best friends. What began as a personal mission to support their own healing has grown into a company dedicated to helping others pursue health through nourishing, whole foods and intentional living.
Together, they believe that nature is one of God's greatest gifts—a place where we can find healing, learn responsibility, witness breathtaking beauty, and experience true rest. We believe that caring for the land is one way we honor the Creator and serve future generations.
Our farm is not a place where we have all the answers. It is a place of curiosity, humility, hard work, and continual learning. We are students of nature, grateful for every teacher who has shared their wisdom and excited for every lesson still to come.
